JUST RELEASED!!!!
Pfizer has posted a press
release announcing that the FDA has approved Sutent for GIST and for renal cell
cancer.
That means that doctors
can now begin prescribing it and that patients in the U.S. will be able to
access it outside of a clinical trial.
Pfizer has a patient
assistant program for Sutent. The program is for people who do not have
insurance or who may not have enough insurance to cover Sutent.
At the ASCO
Gastrointestinal Cancer Symposium held in late January, 2006, Dr. Charles
Blanke presented a poster detailing 4-year follow-up results of the patients in
the first randomized Phase II clinical trial of Gleevec for treatment of GIST,
known as the B2222 trial.
We are pleased to announce
six new documents in a section titled "About GIST". These include: What is
GIST, Diagnosis and Pathology, Special GISTs (familial, NF1, pediatric, Carney
triad), Prognosis, References, and Glossary.
Help Novartis Oncology
collect information from doctors on the diagnosis and management of GIST via
doctor participation in a GIST Registry.
