| fibroblast | A common type cell found throughout the body, which secretes proteins and especially molecular collagen from which the extracelluar fibrillar matrix of connective tissue forms. From fiber, and blast- a formative unit of living matter: a bud, sprout, or germ. |
| fistula | An abnormal opening between two internal organs or between an internal organ and the outside of the body or an internal body cavity. If a fistula develops after GI tract surgery, for example, then the affected part of the GI tract could leak its contents into the abdominal cavity. |
