| Definition | |
| hamartoma | Benign, tumor-like but non-cancerous overgrowth of tissue that is disordered in structure. |
| hematemesis | Vomiting of blood. |
| hematopoietic or hemapoietic | Referring to or promoting the formation and development of blood cells. |
| hemorrhage | Bleeding. Small hemorrhages are classified according to size as petechiae (very small), purpura (up to 1 cm), and ecchymoses (larger). |
| histology | The study of cells and tissue on the microscopic level. Also called microscopic anatomy, it deals with the minute structure, composition, and function of the tissues. |
| hyperpigmentation | Abnormally increased pigmentation in a body part or tissue (such as the skin). |
| hyperplasia | An abnormal or unusual increase in the number of normal cells in normal arrangement in a tissue. |
