The Liddy Shriver Sarcoma Initiative announces their Team Sarcoma 2007 Bike Tour will take place July 14-21 in Vermont. This is an annual event to raise international awareness of sarcoma. The funds raised during this event are used to support grants for sarcoma research. Information about this year's tour can be found at their website.

Bruce Shriver says "There are now over 45 events  planned during the week of July 12-22 as part of the 2007 Team Sarcoma  Initiative. There are events  in 13 countries and 20 states in the United States. We will be updating  this page on a regular basis to include information about those events not yet  described and to expand the descriptions of other events where we have only  given preliminary data. Please bookmark this page and return to it often. We  encourage you and your family and friends to participate in one or more of them  that are close to you. Together are voices are louder. Come join in this  "International Sarcoma Awareness Week."

GSI is very pleased to be represented on the 2007 bike tour by one of our members, Brad Clark, who is busy training for the hills of Vermont (in contrast to flat Florida where he lives).

Last year, GSI was happy to have a Team GIST/GSI represent our group at the tour in Denmark. To see photos and read the story of their tour experience link here.   Team GIST/GSI raised $10,000 that was given directly to the research efforts of two young investigators, Dr. Anette Duensing of the Hillman Cancer Center at the University of Pittsburgh Cancer Institute and Dr. Sebastian Bauer at the West German Cancer Center at the University Hospital in Essen, Germany.
